BEGIN TRANSMISSION 1.7
(Reminder: Original data is available here)

Falsified, obviously. Extract all the embedded data, and it's easy to see why. The impact alone should have killed him. Even if, by some well-scanned miracle, he survived the crash without dying immediately, the blood-loss afterwards should have finished the job. Survival and subsequent disappearance would have aroused too much suspicion, so J.S. was forced into falsification. And believe me, he is pissed. If we don't find the missing subject, and identify the rebel who assisted him, we are all in so much shit we might as well get ourselves scanned.

BEGIN TRANSMISSION 1.4

Public decoders have been identified. (See QR code example: http://zxing.org/w/decode.jspx). Knowledge imparted is limited. Only native reading grants the reader affinity with the code. However, per J.S., these decoders may still be regarded as a net benefit. They allow us to attract the attention of more readers who might otherwise remain ignorant, without endangering ourselves. The risk is minimal, the potential reward great. I strongly believe this channel is still secure.

[Politics] The big speech

0

I’m actually pretty excited about Obama’s speech tonight, considering how forceful he was defending the “public option” in his speech to the AFL-CIO on Monday.

The way I see it, insurance shouldn’t be something you “buy.” It isn’t really a product at all. It’s more of a guarantee that another product will be affordable when you need it: Health care. As is, people can spend years putting money into it, only to have coverage denied when they need it. When that happens, they haven’t actually bought anything at all. They’ve just given a bunch of money to a corporation that can only profit when it doesn’t give anything back.

Anyone else feeling that edge of hope/apprehension?

Squee! Issue 17/18 of Electric Velocipede arrived!

This is the issue that contains my story The Leaf Gatherer and floatingtide‘s story, Jointed. There’s a jaylake story there, too. Hmmm. Evidence seems to indicate that Wordos alumni have taken over Electric Velocipede. Perhaps someone should inform John Klima about that.

[Sales] “The Stonecutter” sold to Electric Velocipede

Forgot to mention this last week. I love The Stonecutter and I’m glad it’s found a home. Should be out in 2010.

Oh, and since I haven’t been here as much as I once was, I will simply say that this year is shaping up as a good year for my writing.

In other news, this:
